What is proper to send at funeral?
If you are unsure you could call the funeral home. Usually they take care of donations right at the funeral home and make sure the family gets a card indicating that a donation was made "in memory of" and who made the donation.

With flowers the funeral home usually makes sure that the family gets the cards that were attached to the arrangement. The flowers may end up at the burial site, be taken home by the family or they may choose to donate them (to a hospital for example.)
Reply:Flowers are always appropriate.
Reply:I think you sent the flowers to the funeral home, and the check to the charity in the name of the deceased.
Reply:You can send the flowers to the person's home or the funeral home (I always prefer their home residence everyone is way to overwhelmed after the service and most times they are left behind), and if you are making a donation I have always made the donation myself directly to the organization and then sent them a card letting them know a donation was made on their behalf. Hope this helps

Reply:donations are always recommended
